Agnez Mo has joined the cast of the cyber thriller C.L.A.Y. alongside Nicolas Cage and Michael Sheen, Deadline reported on October 19. The Indonesian singer and actress is set for her first on-screen English-language movie role, with production planned for London in November.

Writer-director Simon Afram called Mo ‘a true global artist with an audience that spans continents’ in a statement quoted by Deadline. He described her as ‘fearless, intense and full of emotional depth’ and said the team was thrilled to welcome her to the cast.

Who is in the C.L.A.Y. cast?

Deadline also named Jordi Mollà, Emilio Sakraya and Adrian Topol. Mo's character has not been identified. Afram is making his directing debut after writing and producing Simon West's forthcoming Second World War spy film Fortitude.

The movie role follows Mo's English-language screen debut in season four of Amazon's Reacher, according to Deadline. An August profile by The National traced her career from Indonesian entertainment into international music and screen work. Deadline also named her in the voice cast of the animated film Groove Tails, alongside Ansel Elgort, Halle Bailey, Alan Ritchson and Ludacris.

What is C.L.A.Y. about?

Deadline's synopsis follows a brilliant but socially overlooked computer prodigy who finds a sense of belonging in Clowns Laughing At You, an underground hacker collective. The group's digital provocations have consequences in the real world. As its notoriety grows, it draws the attention of intelligence agencies, criminal syndicates and rival hackers. The synopsis does not specify which character Mo will play.

When does C.L.A.Y. start production?

Production is scheduled to begin in London in November, Deadline reported, though no start day was given. Afram is producing with Georgette Turner, Edward Kahl, Reza Roohi and Adrian. Rich Mento is handling casting. Deadline named Bianca Goodloe, David Scaramanga, Cüneyt Kaya and Daniel Haido as executive producers.
