Save for later

Air France and Air Côte d’Ivoire announced a reciprocal codeshare on 19 October 2026 for flights between Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Abidjan-Félix Houphouët-Boigny airports. Starting 25 October, each airline will be able to sell seats under its own code on flights operated by the other, widening the schedules passengers can choose between France and Côte d’Ivoire, the carriers said.

The agreement was signed during a meeting of the Association of Francophone Air Carriers in Ajaccio, Corsica, according to Air Côte d’Ivoire’s announcement. Air France will put its code on Air Côte d’Ivoire-operated flights, while Air Côte d’Ivoire will market Air France-operated flights under its code on the same route. The arrangement concerns how the flights are sold; each airline will continue to operate the services identified in the announcement under its own name.

What the Paris–Abidjan agreement changes for passengers

Air France director general Anne Rigail called the agreement a new stage in cooperation between the airlines. Air Côte d’Ivoire director general Laurent Loukou said its flights would be marketed through Air France’s worldwide network from the launch. That gives the Ivorian carrier another sales channel for its Paris service, which The Rio Times reported began on 15 October 2025 with six weekly flights using an Airbus A330-900.

The Rio Times reported that Côte d’Ivoire held up winter schedules for Air France and French carrier Corsair in 2025 over competition concerns, before approving both in late November. The new agreement brings the national carrier and Air France together on the route after that dispute. It was not immediately clear whether the codeshare affects the earlier disagreement over flight schedules.

Flying Blue, sMiles and planned route expansion

The airlines also plan to link their Flying Blue and sMiles loyalty programmes at the end of 2026. Air Côte d’Ivoire said sMiles members would be able to earn miles on Air France flights between Abidjan and Paris and eventually use them across Air France’s network. Flying Blue members would be able to earn and use miles on Air Côte d’Ivoire flights between the two cities.

Loukou described the codeshare as a first step toward cooperation on other Air France destinations before the end of June 2027. The airlines have not named those destinations, and The Rio Times reported that they have not specified fares or how many seats each will sell on the other’s flights.
