Australian court rejects bid to charge King Charles with genocide

Three Australian appellate judges have rejected an activist’s landmark bid to prosecute Britain’s King Charles III over the alleged genocide of Indigenous people. Monday’s ruling by Victoria’s Court of Appeal leaves Uncle Robbie Thorpe with a final domestic option to seek permission to appeal to the High Court of Australia, which accepts only about 10% of applications for leave to appeal.

Thorpe said that once he has exhausted his legal options in Australia, he will seek to pursue a case against the monarch at the International Criminal Court in the Netherlands.
