Marat Khusnutdinov scored in the third period and the Boston Bruins beat the Los Angeles Kings 4-1 on Saturday night for their fifth straight victory. The game was played in Los Angeles on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2026. Khusnutdinov put Boston ahead 2-1 with 6:24 remaining, scoring on a backhander after Anton Forsberg failed to cover Morgan Geekie's shot and Matt Poitras kept the puck alive.

The win gave the Bruins a sweep of the three California teams and extended their winning streak to five games heading into the final stop of a four-game road trip. Boston will go to Dallas riding a five-game win streak and have two days off before completing the trip at the Dallas Stars on Tuesday.

The Kings got off to a quick start, scoring 31 seconds into the game when Alex Laferriere put in Adrian Kempe's pass for his second goal of the season. Boston was outshot 12-6 in the first period but reached the first intermission down by just a goal. David Pastrnak tied the game at 2:43 of the second period, beating Forsberg with a wrist shot from the right circle for his fourth goal of the season. That goal was Pastrnak's 289th at even strength, tying Phil Esposito for third-most in Boston history.

Jeremy Swayman stopped 25 shots for the victory. Elias Lindholm scored an empty-net goal with 1:58 left on a soft shot from his own zone, and JJ Peterka added another empty-net goal to complete the scoring. Forsberg made 24 saves for Los Angeles. The Kings remained winless through six games to start the season and were held to one goal for the fourth straight contest.

Boston was without center Pavel Zacha, who did not play because of an upper-body injury sustained in the third period against the Ducks on Friday. Zacha is day to day, coach Marco Sturm said before the game. Sturm also made a surprise scratch of defenseman Nikita Zadorov because of the double minor he took on Friday in Anaheim. That led to the return of Jonathan Aspirot and Sean Kuraly, both of whom were scratched for the previous five games.

The Bruins also showed some fight when Mark Kastelic took exception to a hit on linemate Tanner Jeannot and dropped the gloves with Samuel Helenius, scoring the take-down on the 6-foot-6 King forward. Up next, the Bruins play at Dallas on Tuesday night and the Kings play at Washington on Tuesday night.
