Carlos Alcaraz is going to play his first final since coming back from a 4 ½-month layoff for a right wrist injury. The third-ranked Alcaraz overcame a sudden lapse of form at the end of the first set to beat qualifier Jaume Munar 5-7, 6-3, 6-1 in the Japan Open semifinals. In Tuesday’s final Alcaraz will face Jiri Lehecka, who beat Valentin Vacherot 6-4, 6-2. Alcaraz returned from injury in late August and made a run to the U.S. Open quarterfinals.

He’s been wearing a compression sleeve on his right arm since his return. Alcaraz lost 16 straight points at the end of the first set and the start of the second.
