Evolution Mallorca brings back its film pitches. Here’s who will judge them
Seven Script Lab projects will get five minutes each before a jury that includes Oscar-winning producer Kim Magnusson and Sirāt producer Xavi Font.
Evolution Mallorca is bringing back its Script Lab pitch event for seven feature film projects at its 2026 festival in Palma de Mallorca, Variety reported. The festival schedules Script Lab & Pitch for November 1, giving the selected filmmakers a chance to present their work to industry figures during the October 28–November 4 event.
Each project gets five minutes before a panel that includes two-time Academy Award-winning producer Kim Magnusson and Sirāt producer Xavi Font, according to Variety. The pitches are intended to connect filmmakers with people who can support development, financing and co-production; the winning project will receive a one-year subscription to Largo.ai.
Why Evolution Mallorca revived the pitches
Festival founder Sandra Lipski told Variety that bringing Evolution Pitch back for the festival’s 15th edition had been a goal of hers. She said the event could create more chances for filmmakers ready to shoot a feature to meet established filmmakers and find support. The pitch is the presentation component of Evolution Mallorca’s Script Lab, rather than a screening of finished films.
Lipski said Script Lab participants were asked to submit pitch decks, from which seven projects were chosen. Variety described the selection as ranging from a queer Western to an animated war film. Lipski also pointed to nostalgia as a theme running through the projects. Those descriptions offer a glimpse of the range without turning the pitches into promises that any of the films will be made.
Who is on the Evolution Pitch jury
The jury also includes director Russell Goldman, writer-director Gabriela Ortega, producer and former Mallorca Film Commission director Pedro Barbadillo, Largo.ai founder and CEO Sami Arpa, and screenwriter-director Bora Dagtekin, Variety reported. Magnusson’s film Family, Goldman’s Sender and Ortega’s Marga en el DF are also screening at the festival, putting several judges on the programme as filmmakers as well as pitch panellists.
Evolution Mallorca’s official schedule places Script Lab & Pitch on November 1, midway through a festival that runs in Palma de Mallorca from October 28 to November 4. The festival describes the wider week as a mix of screenings, industry events, conversations and masterclasses. For the seven selected teams, the pitch offers a short presentation to producers, directors and financiers; the festival has not announced a winner.
