Federal authorities reveal Russian plot for targeted killings in Europe and US

Federal authorities say the intelligence services of the Russian Federation are seeking to kill people in the U.S. and European countries supporting Ukraine. An indictment unsealed Tuesday in Manhattan federal court named five people who it said were part of a network seeking to carry out killings and terrorism in various countries. None of the individuals named in the indictment were in custody and they were presumed to be living abroad.

FBI officials say the agency and its partners had disrupted Russia’s attempts to conduct violent acts throughout the United States. The indictment says the efforts included an attempt this summer to kill a prominent Russian dissident believed to be living in Washington, D.C.
