Fired election integrity director sues Missouri's top election official

Missouri's former election integrity director has filed a whistleblower lawsuit against Republican Secretary of State Denny Hoskins. Nicholas La Strada says he was fired for raising concerns that staff were plotting to file a fake complaint in a legal case involving the state's voter database. The lawsuit also alleges Hoskins' office illegally directed local election officials to change city council race results and used state funds for political mailings.

Hoskins has declined to comment on the lawsuit. Hoskins already is under scrutiny for his actions in Missouri's congressional redistricting saga. The state election integrity director post remains vacant.
