Kevin Bacon’s delayed box of clothes has been delivered in Ireland, FedEx told RTÉ on 19 October. The delivery follows the actor’s public appeal for help after the package reached Ireland but failed to arrive while he was there filming. FedEx apologised, saying it had got the delivery wrong.

Bacon had shipped the box from upstate New York in late September so he could travel light. He said it contained boots, jeans and hats he had owned since the 1990s. In his Instagram appeal, he acknowledged that he could buy more clothes but said he wanted those particular items back because they mattered to him.

How the package reached Ireland

According to RTÉ, the package travelled through Memphis, France and Germany and was sent to Israel several times before reaching Ireland on 11 October. It was still undelivered when Bacon posted his appeal five days later. Speaking in the video, he said he could not get anyone on the phone and asked whether he would ever see his clothes again as the weather grew colder.

Bacon did not name the delivery company in the video, joking instead that its name rhymed with ‘Bread X’. FedEx subsequently apologised. The News International reported that the company said it was in direct contact with Bacon’s team to deliver the package and was reviewing what had gone wrong. The Express Tribune also reported FedEx’s apology while the box was awaiting delivery.

FedEx confirms delivery

FedEx later told RTÉ: ‘We got this wrong, and we’re sorry. Your package has now been delivered, but we know the experience wasn’t what it should have been.’ The company said it was addressing what went wrong to improve its service. RTÉ did not give the exact time the box was delivered.

Bacon is in Ireland filming Summoner, a horror film written and directed by Jeremy Slater. RTÉ said Stephanie Beatriz and Daniel Ings also star in the film, in which Bacon plays Jefferson Haddock. A release date has yet to be announced.
