Larkin in limbo: Red Wings open camp with ex-captain not on ice

Former Detroit Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin talked to his teammates about his trade request and answered some questions from reporters on the first day of training camp. The Red Wings said on the eve of camp that Larkin would not skate in the first practice because of an upper-body injury. Larkin says he was hurt in a gym while working out. His future with the franchise is in limbo.

The 30-year-old standout center asked to be traded during the offseason and he’s still on the team with an interim general manager in charge.
