Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said during the company’s October 21 earnings call that it plans to scale Muse, its AI agent available in the United States and Canada, and described a future in which users’ agents could communicate and transact with one another. Meta said more than 10 million people had set up Muse since its early September rollout, giving the company a growing base for its planned shopping and productivity services.

Zuckerberg envisaged billions of people using Muse, with their agents interacting across what The Verge described as a large-scale network. That agent-to-agent network is a stated vision; the reported usage figures concern Muse as it exists now.

How people are using Muse

About 25% of people who set up Muse use it daily, Zuckerberg said, according to TechCrunch. He also said that more than a quarter of engaged Muse users who shopped through the agent had an average purchase size above $200. Both figures are Meta’s account of activity on its service.

Shopping is among Muse’s popular uses, while users can also connect email and calendars for productivity tasks, TechCrunch reported. Muse uses a connector from financial technology company Plaid to support shopping. Zuckerberg said Plaid had told Meta it was seeing unusual activity through that connector; the observation was relayed by Zuckerberg, rather than independently reported as a statement from Plaid.

Meta’s plans for Muse commerce and expansion

Zuckerberg said Muse had reached what he called clear product-market fit and that Meta was entering a phase focused on scaling it, Engadget reported. The company plans commerce tools that would let it charge businesses fees for transactions facilitated by Muse. Zuckerberg expects the agent eventually to generate more revenue per user than Meta’s existing apps, though that remains a company projection.

Running Muse is substantially more expensive for Meta than operating its other services, according to Engadget. Zuckerberg said Meta was building capacity to serve more than a billion people over the next few years. He also said the company expected to improve Muse’s computing cost efficiency by more than tenfold over the next year, with profitability dependent on revenue reaching scale, TechCrunch reported.

Meta plans to bring Muse to its glasses in November 2026, Zuckerberg said, according to Engadget. That would put the agent on another of the company’s devices as it works to expand beyond its initial app rollout.
