Prime Video has ordered Rally, a drama set at an elite tennis academy, with Julie Plec writing and running the series and former tennis champion Andre Agassi executive producing. The order was announced on Friday, October 16, 2026, giving the project a home on Amazon’s streaming service after its earlier setup at Universal Television.

The announced premise follows ambitious young players whose drive to win puts pressure on their personal relationships. Deadline describes Rally as a young adult drama about competitive tennis. Universal Television is making the series in association with Entertainment 360 and Amazon MGM Studios.

Who is making Rally

Plec will write, serve as showrunner and executive produce the series. The Hollywood Reporter also lists her as a director. Emily Cummins is an executive producer through Plec’s My So Called Company, which has an overall deal at Universal Television.

Entertainment 360’s Guymon Casady, Agassi and former professional tennis player Justin Gimelstob are also executive producers. Casady said the idea grew from watching his children train at IMG Academy, where he saw the pressure, dedication and heartbreak of elite junior tennis.

Deadline described Rally as Agassi’s first producing project. Agassi said he and Gimelstob were eager to lend their experience to the team. Gimelstob previously executive produced Open, Apple TV’s documentary about Agassi, according to Deadline.

How the series reached Prime Video

Rally was originally set up at Universal Television about a year before the Prime Video order, according to Deadline. It is Plec’s second series at the streaming service: her drama We Were Liars is returning for a second season. Peter Friedlander, Amazon MGM Studios’ head of global television, said the new show would explore how the pressures of elite tennis affect players’ dreams and relationships.

Prime Video has not announced a premiere date or production timetable. The series description sets out the academy setting and the players’ conflicts, but no cast has been announced in the two reports.
